A network cooperation which aims at the promotion of the Wetlands belonging to the Leader+ area and at the enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage of these territories by supporting several actions for sustainable rural development.

The project focuses on the creation of a transnational connection of regions and economic operators, in order to favour the exchange of experiences and ideas and to involve the Wetlands at European level.

The partners joining the network will be establishing a first link in a long chain of future working groups and projects and they will be characterized by water as the main natural element bringing them together; water that hosts the rich wildfowl with its charming tourist and economic appeal, enabling activities of international interest such as birdwatching.

By carrying on the Leader II local development plan, the leading LAG DELTA 2000 has been operating to create new marketing strategies and tourism products and also to support a sustainable approach to the cultural and natural enrichment of the Po Delta area. The project has then been improved within the framework of the EU Programme Leader+ with the proposal for the creation of a transnational cooperation: a network of European Wetlands.
